Weekends away

I seem to be spending a lot of weekends away these days. For various reasons....going to see friends...retreats...family time in Atlanta...going to see D...whatever it may be, but I've been gone a lot. Thats not about to change.

Don't think I'll be in Tuscaloosa another weekend until January (granted, much of that time is spent on the road regardless for holidays.

Last night (and this morning..) I was packing thinking, man I hate packing. But when I got to thinking about it, I realized I've got quite the system with it. I bring nearly the same thing each weekend--my 'go to's'--and always overpack. But who cares, if I'm the one carrying the pack, I'm the only one who should care. I'd rather have my options--girls, I know youre with me on that one.

But its only going to get more complicated in the coming weekends. This weekend I'm going to Atlanta, that I can pack for. A weekend hanging out with D and my family. We are planning on going to see some potential wedding venues (I promise...story to come still!) and just relaxing (although that doesn't seem as much in the agenda anymore) But then its the coming weekends that will be difficult. Next weekend I fly to Ohio to see my nephew Kyson. Ohio=different weather right now but flying=limited space. Problem. Then the following weekend I leave for a 2 plus week excursion to a lot of places. Starting in Atlanta then going to Orlando and up to Pittsburgh and ending in Ohio. So yea...lots of weather changes, different needs, etc. Dreading packing for that. Then I'll be back here for a less than two weeks before heading to Ohio again to celebrate Christmas and off on a cruise.

So, I know I shouldn't complain about packing. Having the privilege to travel is a true blessing. But when you do it every weekend it begins to get a little old--I guess we are always left wanting what we don't have, never fully satisfied unless we go to the One who satisfies. May I find rest in the Him in the midst of a crazy schedule and many travels. Blessing to you.
