Waffle House Let Down

Many of you know how deeply I love Waffle House. In college, Gea and I went to the House every Wednesday for lunch junior and senior year. I mean, can you really argue with a great meal for a great price. And, when they know your name and begin to save a table for you its hard to turn down such a fine establishment. So my love for WH is quite deep.

This past Friday night was Halloween, you might already know that. I went to a party with a bunch of friends and at about 12:30 we all realized we were dang hungry. Is there really any better solution than going to Waffle House? I think not...so we loaded up and headed towards the interstate to get some grub.

Ten of us piled into two booths and waited. And waited. Minutes passed by and still no waitress. At one point someone at our table said "is this normal to wait this long here...?" Of course not!! I never have to wait this long at the House, I'm sure its just that they are busy and backed up. But I did start to notice that the employee after employee walked into the back and soon enough there was just one lady running the front. After being there for at least 20 minutes and still having no contact with anyone, the lone worker said something a bit muffled in the front. I leaned over and said, "what was that you just announced?" "We aren't cooking for another hour" "Oooook."

I was somewhat in shock. We had just sat there for twenty minutes waiting, and no one said a thing to us. It was prime time hours for WH, and they were shutting down the grill. The thing that blew my mind is how they didn't even bother to say anything. We just sat there. So without saying much, our group just got up and walked out.

"Krispy Kreme?" Someone said....and we were off to the next stop. But isn't that such a let down of a great establishment like Waffle House!?!? I certainly won't stop going there, I would never take such drastic measures. But it sure leaves a bad taste in my mouth...or no taste in my mouth. Whatever way you look at it....
