We showed for church like any other Sunday morning. We found our seats and waited for the service to begin. The visiting worship leader began with a song and as we always do, we stood to sing. Here is where my heart entered a weird place.
I found on that morning I have a church expectation, and if you stray from what I'm expecting you'll do, I'll react. I found myself distracted from worship and watch watching thinking 'do they know what time it is' reality is, the routine change was for my good.
During the intro songs, we were encouraged to participate in communion. You and I are likely used to doing that at the end of the service, but not on this morning. It allowed me to see how needed it is for me abandon my thoughts on a schedule for church's d rather just engage in worshipping my Savior!!! Once I realized we were on a path for a different morning, I was freed up from my thoughts, expectations and watch. It was one of the best worship experiences in a while.
So the challenge is, do you too think worship is confined to a schedule, routine, time length? Is there an order that must take place for you to worship God? Live in freedom....it really is freeing.
Blessings.
