I'm sitting a park after a nice walk with my prayer cards. Highly recommend it. A dad and his son are in the open field practicing soccer. What seems like a good dad is actually more of a control situation that's painful to watch. Remind me never to be like this.
You know this part. He's the dad that insists he's right. He's making his son, who can't be older than 5, do drills over and over again until he does them right. Worse yet, he's screaming. It makes for an awkward 'should I look...how can I not look...we should look right...should I do something...' situation. As I walked by, my heart broke even more noticing the boys huge smile. Are you really enjoying this or are you brainwashed?
It's just sad. He's 5. Let the kid stink at soccer. Sure, practice with him. But why put him on a track to misery in a sport and sure path to deep wounds with you?
For what it's worth, it's worth staying on the bench bc the weather is so nice. There, I said it. Blessings.
