The whole gang! Love this group of people!
Things got a little crazy after a bad call in the 8th!
Chippers last at bat.
Last night, 11 of us went the Braves Wildcard 1 Game Playoff game. To say it was a wild game would be an understatement. So many bizarre things happened in 9 innings, it was sad to see the Braves end their season the way they did.
It was a game filled with errors and mishaps, weird calls and wild fans. For the sure handed Braves, it was odd to see them play that way--playoffs or not. You can really chalk it up to nerves because both teams are playing in a nerve wrecking game. Worse of all, Chipper made the biggest error of them all, giving the Cardinals a 3 run inning that really changed the game around. That made the other players want to make big plays, leading to 2 other errors.
The play everyone is talking about however, is the "infield fly rule" where the ball dropped midway in the outfield, but was called an out. The fans went nuts, for 19 minutes to be exact, throwing just about anything they had in their seats onto the field. Boos all around, food and drinks on the field, the players taken off. For Atlanta fans that are already called fair weather, its sad to see that behavior. Regardless of a call or performance, nothing warrants poor behavior where others have to pick up after the fans and players are in harms way. Its flat out wrong. Argue all you want that the call was wrong, because I agree with you, it was. But Atlanta fans, so were you. The Braves performance was slightly embarrassing for the playoffs, but nothing compared to the fans. Just makes me wonder, if we as the fans had rallied that negativity into a positive spirit, how different those 4 outs left could have been?
What a wild wildcard. Hope no one was hurt and glad its over! Blessings!
