Support time!

Its a complete joy to do the job I do. I'm given so many opportunities to talk about that throughout my day, and it is a constant reminder that I really do love my job. I love what God has called me into and its a privilege to serve on the college campus.

Right now, I've shifted my focus from campus (students are in exams and leaving for the summer) to support raising. This is the first time since I joined staff that I have been spending a substantial amount of time working on support.

In the fall of 07, I remember loving raising support. Sure, there were hard times, but I loved it. It was a privilege to meet with people of all walks of life and share with them what God has called me into.

Now, I'm back at that same place. The difference being that I'm in Tuscaloosa meeting with people who have more recently entered my life. These are people that I do life with on a regular basis...who see me day in and day out..and people who are around the students I'm around all the time. They might not know the students, but they drive the same streets, shop at the same Target, and come eye to eye with them daily. This time, support raising is hitting home.

I still feel those same emotions. I LOVE sharing my passion. I love college students and love working with them. So to be able to sit with someone close in my life, and have their undivided attention for an hour or so, so I can share this with them, is priceless. Then to give the opportunity to them to join in with me in what I do, I get the chills.

I know raising support is hard. It can be awkward, frustrating, discouraging, and difficult. In this hard time for our country and economy those things are magnified. But what also is magnified is the power and hand of God who is still calling people to join my team. People to say yes, we believe in and support what you're doing. We're in. I love it.

In a way, I'm thankful the year is coming to an end. I'm tired and worn out, and need rest. Yet raising support is life giving and fires me up. I pray this energy will carry over to the fall. Thanks for being a part. Blessings.

Hi! I wanted to stop in and say Hi! My circle of friends don't blog as much as Kathryn's so I am having to break into her circle. I need more blogging buds. Hope all is well!
