In my absence much has happened. The short version. We finished on campus with students and our normal weekly scheduled. That shifted into a week of evaluation and planning. Thats an intense time to look and reflect while planning and prepping. Although I enjoy the strategy and high thought time, I'm not made for meetings. Thats always evident during that week. Alabama won the SEC in case you didn't hear, ha. That was and still is a big deal. People have been scrambling to make plans for Jan to Cali for the Nat'l Championship. I don't blame them one bit. Steelers lost their fourth straight, its getting embarrassing. But, when we won super bowl XI we had a similar slump and basically won out from this point in the season. I believe. Early this week I finished up in Tuscaloosa with last minute details, doctors visits, running around etc. to prepare to leave for Ohio. Tuesday D and I did Christmas together, always fun, which backed up to the time that the girls came to my house for a baking party. We decided to throw two graduating seniors a surprise going away party so that was in combine with the baking party, making Tuesday rather busy. Especially considering I was planning on leaving on Wednesday. By the time people left at 1030 I still had to pack for 3 weeks. Urgggg, not my favorite task. In record time, I was done before midnight, living by the expression 'if you wait til the last minute to do something it only takes a minute to do'
Yesterday I went to our last CBS of the year and then hit the road. I mostly went so I could see the women I've built relationships with before heading out. Many are so dear to me. I stole a few minutes from Kathy before I hit the road and that was it for me in Tuscaloosa. Then it became me, the road and the radio (isn't that a Kenny Chesney song) until I hit Ohio. I love love love driving.
You know you have been away from home for a while when there are new malls and gyms that are here that weren't here when you last were. When you ask where to put something in the kitchen because you just can't remember. And when the cold you used to endure seems piercing to your skin. Its been a while since I've been home. Nevertheless, its good to be 'home.' I'm in the town I grew up in and the place thats familiar. Memories are abundant here, I'm finally here.
Thats why it seems ever so appropriate to return to my blog now. I'm finally home. I'm in place thats familiar to me and place thats captured many memories.
Its good to be home.
Blessings
