They have a room about the size of a small closest that houses 15 animals. Its hardly quiet and it certainly doesn't smell nice. There are animals freely roaming around--some in the toy aisle as their owner lets them 'have anything they way' some that are as close to their owners as possible, perhaps they have confused the pet store with the vet, some that are so nervous to be in public they had a small accident. Its just the natural of a pet store.
But, I still love them. They are a place of a great joy yet sorrow, excitement yet pain. I love playing with the dogs.
Allison and I went to 'just see' I've been wanting a dog for some time now and waiting for the right time to get one. It will likely be a while until I actually get one, but its always good to be on the lookout. Plus, its fun to save the pups for a few minutes and play with them.
You should maybe know that I've essentially walked into a pet store and walked out with a dog before. Thats not exactly what happened, but basically. I went to the pet store, fell in love with Grace (she picked me out, I swear) and two days later, after at least 10 visits to see her, I was carrying her out. She now is my precious pup. 7 years young.
Before entering the pet play room, we noticed a bearded lizard. You're right, I would have never known what it was but this dude was quick to talk about it. I stepped back a few steps. If a lizard is bigger than my hand I don't want anything to do with it. He assured me he wouldn't harm me. I stepped back again. He proceeded to tell me that the lizard has never bitten anyone, except for this one time where he bit him and blood when flying onto the wall. Not building a good case dude. I stepped back again.
We were having casual, but weird, conversation when he said 'I have monitor' in my pocket. I had no clue what that was, plus I only have heard him. He reaches in his pocket and pulls out another lizard. I stepped way back. This one was a little squirmy. He told us about the lizard and then stuffed him back in his pocket. I asked some normal questions like, "Do you have any other animals in your pockets?" I mean who does that? Leaves the house and thinks, I'll just take my lizards with me today, they shall travel with me in my pocket.
We then went to the play room, and Allison fell in love with Lady. She is a mid size adult dog, fully trained, up to date on her shots and ready for a home. She is thinking about making her home in Atlanta :) Pretty fun huh.
My time for a pup has not come yet, but I have my eye out, always.
