West coast fun

I've always been drawn to the west coast. I remember loving it as a kiddo and still loving it as an adult. So what its expensive. The beauty of the mountains meeting the ocean is matchless. I just love it.

D and I took a quick trip to Southern Cali to visit his family. To make a cross country trip, we decided to make it worth out time! After arriving at about 11 on Thursday, we headed to lunch in Old Town San Diego and enjoyed some of SD's finest Mexican food. From there we headed to sea world. Its important to know that my favorite animal is a sea lion. A close second would be a penguin and I have a place in my heart for nearly every other water mammal. I just love the playful side of those creatures. So Sea World was quite the delight for me. After hours of fun there, we headed back to Corona, where D's parents live and enjoyed a dinner out and time at their house.

Friday we headed to Laguna Beach. The beaches are stunning in California because rocks are just a part of the shoreline. I love it. It was a perfect day to sit on the patio of a restaurant enjoying brunch, and so we did. We found our way to a few benches and sat there for a while, reading and sitting. Its so nice to be still for a while. The shops of laguna captured our attention for a while, especially the one with the cookies, before we headed down to walk on the beach. Our time wrapped up there and we headed to where D grew up. I saw his old home and schools and the grocery store he stole candy from. You know, the important stuff. We met his whole family for dinner that night and then headed back to the house.

Saturday wouldn't be saturday if we didn't stay at home all day and watch football, and so we did. We sat around in our teams gear and watched game after game, a perfect day. I stuffed my face, as I should on a Saturday. That night we grilled out, enjoyed the fire pit and finally the hot tub. Not a bad combination.

We had an early afternoon flight on Sunday, so awoke to a big breakfast and headed to the airport. It was a great getaway--maybe I'll find the time to post a few pictures. Cali has a special place in my heart. I really do like it out there!
