So there's this guy

So there's this guy in my life, maybe you should know about him. This might feel like its out of no where to you, like wow, Christie is pulling a shocker on us, but I've always been a lil mysterious. I'll give you some time to deal with the initial shock.

Good? Ok good. I won't bore you with the whole story, but here is how all this came to be. After summer project we started trading messages and talking a little bit. Then the night he was leaving to go back to East Asia, did I mention he lives there, he called and we talked for a while. That started the trend for the next few months. Every few days we would catch an hour, maybe two on the phone. Emails were going back and forth, text, and it wouldn't be a true friendship if facebook wasn't a part. I thought nothing of it for a good while. You see, I have a lot of good guy friends so I thought this like every other relationship I had. A few months into this, I had this thought, "I bet he's not calling a bunch of girls like he is calling me.." So I did what any other girl would do, I called a trusted friend, told her everything, and asked for help!! I asked what she thought and her words were this "he's crazy about you" Now, lets keep this clear, she didn't know him, she was just going off all that I told her.

Two weeks later, D and talked about things and I then knew where he was at with everything. One DTR (defining the relationship) isn't good enough anymore so a week later we had our second and the rest is history. We're dating :) count it official. I'm pretty blessed to have him in my life.

So about this point a lot of people are questioning how the heck this works. I live in America and he in Asia. Well, thats difficult no doubt. Without Skype (talking via web cam) things would be a lot harder. But for now, God has us in a great place. Its the feeling of 'this is exactly how its supposed to be.' Both he and I are in unique places in ministry that I feel fortunate to not have to feel the weight of distractions thinking if he might call during the day--he's sleeping then!! Granted, I don't want it to always be like this, but for now its ok. We just work right now. Our schedules match up and it works. Plus when you wanna pursue someone you make it work, no matter how far it is or how great the circumstance, its worth it.

So let me brag. This past week was Christmas Conference. I suspect you will hear about that soon too. John is his roommate and was back in the states, and able to come to conference for a few days. D, the pursuer that he is, decided this would be a great time to make me feel cared for and special. That he did. On the 30th, I got a knock on my door to find a few things waiting outside my door. A basket with lots of snacks, many of which were my favorite, and three packages. He got me a puzzle (which I LOVE) a new journal (which I can't wait to use) and wrote me six Christmas cards. The cards are so special because they tell of Jesus and his arrival to earth. It was as if D and I were there having a conversation about the things he was learning. Pretty great. Then on the 31st, John showed up at my door with some beautiful flowers, lilys, my favorite, and said D wanted me to have these. Impressive that he remembered that because I told him that a while back. They smell incredible and look gorgeous. Countries away I still feel so cared for and pursued. He is intentional, its just a part of who he is and I really appreciate that about him.

So now you know, and glad you do. Its a big part of my life--with a smirk on my face...

Skype is amazing.

Also... holy crap. D is awesome. And what D did at he conference without being there is amazing. So cool that Gunter was able to work with him to do all of that. All guys' including myself should start taking notes, haha.

That is AWESOME Christie!! (Except when you said you heard a knock on the door, I thought it was going to be D standing there...so I was a lil' disappointed. :)) I am SO SO SO happy for you. You deserve the best and it sounds like you got it!

ohhhhh right. i should have been more clear that i already knew it wouldnt be him. i had talked to him on the phone, making it impossible without a SUPER fast jet to get there. but i can see how that was misleading. haha.
