I guess I need new sunglasses

Labor Day is upon us. For most, that means a day of rest, translated into a day on the water, by the pool, or an extended weekend getaway. Whatever the case, people are out of school and work, how great!

For some though, its much more than a Monday off. Its time to pack up all the white in your closest and store until Memorial Day comes around. Sure, I know of the fashion standards and for the most part I guess I follow it. More by default, I don't wear a lot of white to begin with.

So I invite you to flash back with me to last year. I had been at Alabama for 7ish months. Its important to know about my sunglasses. I have a pair of white sunglasses--they happen to be my favorite pair. They fit well and are the perfect tint. Thus, I wear them all the time. So its post labor day last year and one several occassions, students I'd be meeting with said something along the lines of 'you know your wearing white sunglasses..' Yes, yes I know. I thought it would be more fun to play dumb in those instances and see if they had the guts to tell me that it was 'fashionably inappropriate' to wear such a thing. Some did.

So, 24 hours away from Labor Day, I'm considering investing in a new pair of sunglasses. Not for the sake of conforming to the culture or the ways of the world (south) but rather to avoid having the conversations with people where they think I actually don't know. Its a 'bless her heart' kind of situation. They will have to be perfect though. I sure do love my white ones.
