So the traveling begins

This past weekend I took a little road trip. After Friday's staff meeting, D and I hit the road and headed to Fayetteville Arkansas, about nine hours west for the UGA Arkansas game. My family lives there, so it was a perfect time to go to a road game. We had a great time visiting Gary, Angela, David, Ginger, Sarah, Jared, Jessica, Mark and lil Charlie. My Dad came in for the game, so the Bulldogs weren't so outnumbered. It was just a great weekend of family, food and football, what more could you want.

Friday night after arriving and hanging out at Jess and Marks for a while, we headed to Dickson St. to see all the action. We didn't last there long because everyone was tired and we had a big day ahead on Saturday. Saturday, late morning we headed to Jared and Sarah's house, who were hosting a big house tailgate. A lot of their friends were over. With college football on in the background and cornhole in the backyard, life doesn't get much better (although they called it bag-o. I wasn't about to say anything...but I'm confident thats not the name of cornhole) We hung there for a while, stuff our faces and had some of the best brownie bites ever. Then it was game time. By game time I of course mean four hours til game time, but time to get close to the stadium. We headed to 'the pit' to another tailgated. D and I split time there and with some of his family. Good fun and more food. Time flew and before long we were walking to get into the stadium. It was like walking into a middle school football game. The easiest stadium ever to get in to. So nice!

And alas, the game began! It was so fun. Especially considering the Dawgs won 52-41, but it was such a fun game to cheer for since it was back and forth. Yet it was a weird game. It was eerily quiet. I've been to a lot of games, and never heard a stadium more quiet. There were a few times that it got loud, especially at the end, but overall, it was just quiet. Weird. Like at the beginning, when the game hadn't started....people just sat there...waiting. I guess it was just different than what I'm used to. Either way, the Dawgs came out with an ugly win that I'll take. We headed back to the house and ate some great pizza and called it a night.

Sunday morning, we hit the road and headed back to Tuscaloosa! This weekend marks the start of a lot of traveling for me in the coming weekends. This weekend I'll actually be here, but with visitors. My cousins Sarah and Jared will be doing what I did this past weekend, and coming here for the Alabama Arkansas game, and staying with me. Then the next weekend we have our fall retreat with students. The following weekend is fall break which I'll be gone for. Then I'm going to Pittsburgh for a Steelers game. Add in Fall conference, Thanksgiving, a likely trip to Athens and Atlanta, its just a lot of weekends away! I'll be on the road a lot this semester from here on out!
