I have a lot of stories from this weekend. I got to see a lot of old friends and visit places that stole my heart. It wasn't exactly a quiet weekend like I enjoy in Athens but it certainly was life giving. With thousands of people from out of town in for the game it seemed best to put on my red and black and celebrate with my follow fans. Downtown was a mess. The kind of mess you thrive in and don't want to leave. Traffic was inevitable but not a big deal to sit in with the sound of UGA cheers out the window. It was a good time for all.
Saturday morning quickly came...I watched College Gameday and then headed to Michelle's. She had people over from Crusade to visit with the Norris family. It was really great to see everyone and catch up. Then I took off to stop by at Steves before walking to campus. I was then on my on to find Maranda, my dad, Jenn and that crew. I ran into the UA guys on campus a few times and even some Atlanta folks. In fact, while walking through campus I saw some Bama students. Campus was packed.
Here was the highlight of the day. You probably already know that Florida lost. Georgia fans would be thrilled to see UF lose every game. I happened to be on North campus for the final few minutes of the game as 1,000's of people crowded around TV's to watch. In unison the crowd would go nuts! As the time expired, all of North Campus erupted in a cheer, to celebrate that UF had lost! Then people began to do UGA cheers. It was the kind of moment you think "I'm really proud to be a Georgia fan...and this is really great" It was so fun and a great thing to experience. Its unlike being inside Sanford for a great touchdown, because its rare. It was great!
Even though the game didn't go the way I would have hoped, I still had fun. Parts of it were lame, but seeing the Dawgs are always great. They look good in black and so do the fans. We had hope they were going to come back so we were going crazy throughout the game! Its a thrill to be back in Athens and hang out there. I miss that place like crazy. I miss the fall air that only seems to be in Athens.
