Costume freak out

Face the facts, I have two favorite holidays. Halloween and Valentines day. They are for totally different reasons. Generally speaking, I dont really like holidays because they highlight a lot of things that you don't like about your life, at least thats what I remember from growing up. So...my favorite holidays are Halloween and Valentines Day.

I love Valentines Day because its the first day that they sell Easter candy, and Cadbury eggs are one of my favorite things in the world. They are seasonal, so Valentines day is always a rush at the store. Last year was a disaster. I had jaw surgery at about 6 in the morning on Feb 14, meaning NO Cadbury eggs. Nightmare.

I also love Halloween. It has nothing to do with groups, family, traveling and everything to do with personality, parties, and food. I love it. Its a time to show up your creativity and also see who is too scared to be bold. Its just soo much fun.

This year I was sorta dreading Halloween. Up until this week there was no word of a Halloween party. In college, I went to some pretty wicked parties and always had some great costumes, so the thought of wasting a year when I'm in my prime was torture. But then on Sunday night, talk started. Friday we are gathering for a Halloween party. I was excited but also entered into "costume freak out" mode. That meant I only had 5 days to figure out what I was going to be and pull it off.

This week hasn't really been like others. Its been crazier. With it being homecoming here and having a day off, I've had way more on my plate than I normally do. I don't have time to be super creative and pull something magnificent off?!?! But, can I let people down like that? I think not.

Its 24 hours from game time. I have a few ideas circulating in my head, yet no supplies to make them happen. Tonight, the hunt will begin to pull off the unthinkable. I will have a good costume. I will make heads turn. I will no longer have, a costume freak out.

Wish me luck.

Oh Halloween costumes... I have to admit, I usually fail and never have one. I love coming up with a great idea, and once all the work has been put into it, I enjoy wearing it. But blast it all if I never put the work into it once I have the idea!
