Driving and sitting

Yesterday I did a little driving. In fact, today I did a little driving. Its not often I get time with Jenn and we don't even get as much time on the phone to chat. About a week ago I proposed a Friday night hangout, just the two of us--to do something fun together, catch up on life, and be best buds.

To do that, it meant I was going to have to drive a little over two hours to Villa Rica and another 30 plus minutes into Atlanta to Phillips. Part of the catch was I had to be back in Tuscaloosa on Saturday morning at 11 and Jenn had previous plans that morning as well. We both work full time, so I left after work on Friday and hit the road. Luckily, I got on the road a little earlier than I normally could to get a head start.

I was cruising along, making good time and thinking I would make it to VR by about 5:30. Somewhere before the Georgia state line, I hit a dead stop in traffic. It wasn't the kind of stop and go traffic, it was just sit on the road, park your car and even turn it off. I figured I would move soon, but minutes passed by and I still wasn't moving. An hour. Then I got on my GPS and began to reroute my trip. I could see the exit I wanted to get off at that could get me back on my way, but just couldn't get there because of the traffic.

So I went from driving to sitting. After an hour and half, I got back to driving and thankfully was able to inch my way up to the exit. I got off, took a detour and bypassed "something." I have no idea what the hold up was, but it was a mess. It delayed me a ton and made Jenn and I rush to the Gymnastics event. But, we made it (just a few minutes late)

All in all, it was well worth the 6 hours of driving, few hours of sitting, just to have a few hours of hanging out with Jenn. I'd do it anytime.

I got back to Tuscaloosa around 930 or 10 today, just in time to get ready for the tailgate on campus. We had a great time with students and alumni. I will say this, I was so tired today. I don't know what it was. Its like going to the eastern time zone wacks me out! As Liz and I say, we live in a place where time stands still, so back where time moves, I guess I get a little more tired, and yesterday wore me out!
