It runs in the family

Tonight I was getting a few things ready for fall retreat. Tomorrow we will pack up the cars, throw a few sleeping backs in the trunk, and head to Mentone Alabama for a weekend away. Its a time of fellowship, fun, challenge, laughter, football, and definitely no sleep. I can't wait.

I've always been a little bit of a media person. I enjoy taking pictures, filming, and documenting. In prep for the weekend, I got out my video camera, made sure it was charged and went on the hunt for a tape with enough blank space for the weekend. In doing that, it meant I was seated in the hallway for over an hour, watching old memories flash over the screen. They were things I've captured in the last few years...Christmas surprises for my mom, a road trip out west, a summer overseas, and my brothers wedding.

Thats where this story picks up. You have to understand exactly what my family is like. Crazy. Zanny my aunt would say. There is really no arguing with her on that. At Scotty's wedding, I filmed random things, so its a little scattered, but still fun to watch. Most of the reception you could find about 20 of us on the dance floor having a good time together. Good times :)

After the reception, the lights were on and people were gathering their things to head back up to their rooms (the reception was in the hotel we all stayed in..) I was walking around talking to my cousins on camera and stumbled across my sister and aunt. Here is how the conversation went...

Jennifer: If I eat one tic tac I will barf....(talking about being so full)
Aunt Pam: She said if she ate tic tac it would put her over the edge, and she's eating cake?!?!
Jennifer: Cheers
Christie: Its kind of how her life goes...
Aunt Pam: Does it at least have the caramel in it?
Jennifer: Yea, do you want a bite?
Christie: Yep we do!

I sat there and laughed for at least three minutes before calling Jen. What a typical thing...to talk about how full we are, about to bust, and then minutes later have something sweet and tasty in our hands. I suppose it runs in the family.
